A Visit from Salisbury Academy

Salisbury Students Visit the Department of Chemistry for STEM Outreach

We organized a visit for a group of 17 students and two teachers from Salisbury Academy after they reached out to us. The group toured the Centennial campus and visited the Hunt Library as well as getting a tour of some the the state-of-the-art laboratory facilities in the Department of Chemistry.

Raja Gosh organized a presentation for the group in which he discussed the role of scientists in society, the need to recruit more young people into STEM and the kinds of jobs that are available to people with degrees in Chemistry and other STEM fields. Raja created surveys to assess the students’ knowledge and interest in STEM careers before and after the talk, noting a positive shift in their perception of these fields.
